Modified Skins Rules & Guidelines
Who Can Play
All MGA members in good standing - regardless of the tee selection - provided they play in the dogfight competition that same day and playing from the gold, blue or white tees. Members playing from the gray tees are inelegible to play in the Skins game.
Tee selection guidelines for the modified skins game are as follows. If a player averages more than $26.00 per round he must choose to select the Gold Tees or move back one set of tees, i.e. White to Blue or Blue to Gold. If a Player averages less that $20.00 per round, he can move forward one set of tees.
For players that are playing the Modifier Skins Game for the first time or players that have moved up or back per above limits, the tee selection will be revisited by the directors after (10) ten rounds to determine if the selection meets the above limits.

When
Every Saturday, Sunday, designated holidays, and as decided upon by the MGA Board of Directors. It runs concurrently with the MGA afternoon Dogfight. When a member plays in the morning and again with the membership in the afternoon, he must count the morning round for the Modified Skins scoring.
|
Cost
To enter in each contest, each player will pay a total of $20:
- $18 for the daily payout ($1 per hole)
- $2 for the semester championship fund
|
Format
Each participant:
- pays $1 per hole to play (see ‘Cost’ above)
- posts his gross score from each hole
If any player posts the sole best score at any hole, he receives the total money allocated to that hole ($1 per player per hole). If 2 players post the best score at any hole, each receives half the total money allocated to that hole. The same holds true for any number of ties. If all players tie a hole, they each receive $1 (the amount each paid for the hole).
|
Daily Payout
The payout at the conclusion of each day’s event inevitably ends in odd cents attached to most players’ winnings. To make the payout somewhat easier, each player’s final winnings will be ‘rounded’ up or down to the nearest dollar. On some occasions, the rounding will cause a nominal differential from the $18 per player received. Any positive differential will be added to the Championship fund. Negative differentials will be paid from the Championship fund.
|
Scoring
All scoring will be electronically entered, calculated, and stored for future retrieval. Like the dogfight, scoring is handled by any of the MGA directors on hand. If no director is available, all manual data will be collected and put aside with the proceeds. The payout will be conducted at a later date after electronic entry & calculation.
|
Championship
The semester championship will run concurrently with the dogfight championship. The field will be comprised of the top 12 skins players. If a player qualifies for both the Skins championship and the dogfight championship, he will concurrently play in both. This will inevitably mean there will not be a total of 24 players (12 Skins + 12 Dogfight). The exact number playing will change each championship weekend.
|
Championship Field
The 12 players in the championship field are determined by total money earned over the course of the semester (before counting the $18.00 entry fee). The number of plays in the daily game will have no bearing. Since ‘money earned’ is the only tally, good play with fuller fields will be better rewarded with championship qualification ‘points’ (money).
